Frequently Asked Questions
My last cleaner charged me to wipe my baseboards, do you charge for this? No. I use removable, washable twist mops which I use to gently wipe baseboards as I am washing the floor each time.

Why do my walls and baseboards look dirty? It's your paint. Historically baseboards were painted with higher gloss paints. Today's paints are made to be safer with fewer volatile compounds, and sadly they're often cheaper, meaning the finish is much less like a protective enamel and more like a porous piece of paper. Unless you have high quality paint on your walls it's likely that your walls will simply become stained over time by wear and tear. Likewise, baseboards should always be caulked first before painting. Unfortunately a painter or home owner will sometimes improperly lay caulk on top of the paint which results in a yellow line which is slightly tacky and attracts dirt. I highly recommend hiring a professional painter and investing in quality paint if you want to maintain nice clean walls and baseboards.

Do I have to sign a contract? No. When you sign on as a client, you'll be given a service agreement which is not legally binding, it is simply a summary of terms and services provided. If you are not happy or you cannot afford your services a simple and courteous thank you and goodbye is all that's required. NO STRESS.

What happens when I'm on vacation? If you need to cancel sometimes, for any legitimate reason: guests are coming, vacation, illness, etc. This is perfectly normal and acceptable. However, please be mindful that this is my income so if you are cancelling too often, I am probably going to want to replace you with something more reliable. Most people cancel 3-5 cleans per year. If you frequently go away and you still want to keep your cleaning schedule, I recommend using up this time to have things cleaned that are outside of the normal scope of your cleaning routine. This can be a time to clean inside of cabinets, fridges, and other areas of the home that are not normally included as regular maintenance.

Will you weed my gardens? No. That is why God made landscapers.

Will you clean the cat litter box? No.

Will you clean my balcony? No. I will occasionally go outside and sweep them if I can do them quickly and easily, but generally speaking anything on the exterior of the home is outside of my jurisdiction.

Do you wash windows? Yes and No. If you have patio doors or the baby makes handprints on the glass in the dining room or the dog's nose prints are all over the front door, yes, I will clean those. As for full interior/exterior window cleaning involving ladders; no, that's a window cleaner's job. I DO wipe the exposed tracks of closed windows and maintain them throughout the year though.

How much do you charge? I don't charge by the hour, but I do. Let me explain: I use a cheat sheet when I do a walkthrough of your home to calculate how many rooms x number of people x number and types of pets to estimate how long I think it will take me to clean the space. I need to gross approximately 50.00 per hour for at least 3 hours to cover my costs and to pay myself. Above 3 hours I drop the rate to 35$ for the additional hours. Furthermore, sometimes it takes 3 hours to clean your house, other days it can take 4. Your rate stays the same from week to week. If your house is a 150$ job then it's a 150$ job even if you had company last week and they brought their dogs, even if you were in a hurry that day and a bomb went off in your home. No Worries! Life happens. Occasionally a house starts to take routinely longer due to an increase in children and/or pets, and in these cases I charge for an extra hour. It's not painful, I promise. Most people have their entire houses cleaned top to bottom for between 150$-185$ It's affordable as heck. DON'T STRESS.

Do you accept clients on a monthly basis? Yes, BUT... #1 Cleaning a house once a month is like cleaning it from scratch the first time and it takes longer. #2 It's harder to find another once a month client to fill the space left the alternating week in my schedule. If you are dying to be a once a month client, you can go on a wait-list as I do get requests for them occasionally and when I have a partner for you I'll notify you and you can begin your once a month routine.

Why do my first few cleanings last 7 hours? The reason your first few cleans take forever is because I need to invest the time into getting your house up to speed as quickly as possible. Surfaces that have not been maintained regularly take a lot longer to clean at first. When I'm new to your home I personally invest my own time and elbow grease into getting it ship shape so that I can always be quick and efficient in the future. The cost of not doing this is missed areas that are not cleaned well until after the first couple of months (which is probably one of the reasons you didn't like your last cleaner!) There is NO EXTRA COST for this, it is just me making sure I can do the best job I can do during my subsequent cleanings. Enjoy it!
